A 90 years story

In 1926 grandmother Angioletta and grandfather Alessandro Cerutti own and manage a "Trattoria" on the “Lago Maggiore” (Leggiuno). A meeting place for a coffee, for a good glass of wine and to taste typical homemade specialties.

In September 1933, Alessandro Cerutti gets the license to practice commerce in the coffee branch and other food products.

The youngest of the four children, Angelo Enrico, begins in 1937, his hotel career, as cook at the "Grand Hotel des Îles Borromées" in Stresa and then he continues his training in other 5-star hotels in Italy (Cortina), in Switzerland (St Moritz, Arosa and Lugano) until ending with a food festival in New York.

In strong>1950 Angelo Enrico Cerutti buys the "Restaurant Bar Principe", Corso Italia in Saronno/Milan and together with his wife Elivia and his mother Angioletta, he successfully manages it until 1960.

Thanks to the acquired experience, he opens his first Bar Tea Room in Chiasso at the end of 1960 and he becomes promoter of the Italian coffee tradition on the Swiss and foreign markets until 1990.

Angelo Enrico's son, Massimo, after attending the primary school in Mendrisio and obtaining his gymnasium certificate, begins a cooking school as an apprentice cook, at the "Hotel Lausanne-Palace" in 1979 in Lausanne, where he obtains his certificate of "Mention Bien" in 1982. First trainee in Ticino in attending a school outside the canton, he improves his training by working as a chef at the "Dolder Grand Hotel" in Zurich and at the “Schweizerhof Hotel" in Bern. He continues his studies in Germany and England, where he attends the “Cambridge Business School”.

Thanks to his careful professional preparation, Massimo Cerutti focuses on the development of his father's business and he grounds his own individual Company in 1985 , which becomes MASSIMO CERUTTI SA in 1995, dealing with coffee and premium pastries.
