A story for over 90 years

In 1926 Angioletta and Alessandro Cerutti owned and managed a trattoria with accommodation on Lake Maggiore (Leggiuno), a meeting place for a coffee, a good glass of wine and to enjoy real home cooking.

In September 1933 , Alessandro Cerutti obtained a license to trade in coffee and other food products.

The youngest of the four children, Angelo Enrico, began his hotel career in 1937 , as a cook at the "Grand Hotel des Îles Borromées" in Stresa and then continued in other 5-star hotels in Italy (Cortina), Switzerland (St . Moritz, Arosa and Lugano) and end it with a food festival in New York.

In 1950 Angelo Enrico Cerutti bought the "Ristorante Bar Principe", in Corso Italia in Saronno and together with his wife Elivia and his mother Angioletta, he managed it successfully until 1960 .

Thanks to the experience gained, he opened his first Tea Room Bar in the late 1960s in Chiasso and became a promoter of Italian coffee on the Swiss and foreign market until 1990 .

Angelo Enrico's son, Massimo, after having attended compulsory school in Mendrisio and having obtained the secondary school leaving certificate, started a cooking school in 1979 with an apprenticeship as a cook at the "Hotel Lausanne-Palace" in Lausanne where in 1982 he obtained the his certificate of ability with the "Mention Bien". First Ticino apprentice to have attended a school outside the canton.
He perfected his training by working as a cook at the "Dolder Grand Hotel" in Zurich and at the "Schweizerhof Hotel" in Bern. He then continued his studies in Germany and England where he attended the Cambridge "Business School".

Thanks to an accurate professional preparation, Massimo Cerutti dedicates himself to the development of his father's business and in 1985 he creates his own individual company which he will then transform in 1995 into MASSIMO CERUTTI SA, which operates in the sector of coffee and high-end Italian confectionery specialties. quality.
