Our specialties
Over 90 years
For 3 generations, the Cerutti family has successfully worked in the coffee, bar and restaurant sector. In 1926, grandmother Angioletta and grandfather Alessandro Cerutti owned and managed a restaurant on Lake Maggiore, Leggiuno. Angelo Enrico Cerutti, the youngest of 4 children, began his hotel career as a cook in 1937 in renowned Italian 5-star establishments, at the Hotel "Des Iles Borromées" in Stresa, on Lake Maggiore, then continuing in other 5-star hotels in Switzerland. In 1950 he purchased the "Ristorante e bar Principe" on Corso Italia in Saronno, the famous city for its amaretti and liqueur, and successfully ran it until 1960. Thanks to the experience acquired from 1960 to 1990, Angelo Enrico Cerutti became a promoter of Italian coffee on the Swiss and foreign market. Enrico Cerutti's son, Massimo, began his apprenticeship as a cook - the first apprentice from Ticino to attend the prestigious Lausanne Culinary School, graduating with honors in 1982, then perfecting his training in the best Swiss hotels, such as the "Dolder Hotel" in Zurich, and the "Schweizerhof" in Bern. He studied in Germany and in England, where he attended the "Business School" in Cambridge and dedicated himself to the development of Massimo Cerutti SA – "Il Caffè" and "La Pasticceria".
